Don’t miss your chance to attend the online Diabetes UK South West Professional Conference: Emotional and psychological wellbeing masterclass this Wednesday 14 October . The masterclass forms part of an exciting series of eight, CPD accredited, online masterclasses and talks designed and delivered by healthcare professionals for healthcare professionals.
The South West Diabetes Clinical Network, in recognition of the importance of supporting patients’ emotional and psychological wellbeing, are providing funding for up to 100 healthcare professionals to attend the masterclass for free. You can also choose to attend any other session within the full online series at an additional fee. The masterclass is suitable for all healthcare professionals.
The emotional and psychological wellbeing masterclass aims to give you a deeper understanding of and insight into the emotional impact of living with diabetes and provide you with the tools to support you in having conversations with your patients to overcome these.
Chaired by Marc Atkin, Chair of NHS England’s South West Cardiovascular Clinical Network and Consultant and Clinical Lead in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Internal Medicine in Bath, the course will cover:
- Patients’ own lived experiences of the emotional implications of diabetes
- The many psychological factors underpinning self-care and wellbeing in type 1 diabetes and how to support patients to overcome these
- Compassion Focused Therapy and how to apply it to improve outcomes for people with diabetes
- Engaging and supporting young people using self-written inspirational postcards
Live Q&A opportunities with the expert panel of people with diabetes and healthcare professionals will follow each session and attendees will also have the chance to apply their learning through reflective practice.
