HEE: questions and concerns that you have relating to the postponing of the registration assessment

Heath Education England would like to encourage pre-registration trainees and their tutors to use this link: Health Education England Pre-registration Pharmacy Questions Portal to anonymously submit any questions and concerns that you have relating to the postponing of the registration assessment.

We are working closely with our partners and colleagues to review the impact of COVID-19 on the pharmacy workforce and keep our learners informed.

Following the recent General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) announcement (26 March) to postpone both the June and September 2020 pre-registration pharmacist examinations, we have published a joint statement with NHS Education for Scotland and Health Education and Improvement Wales. Our statement outlines our support for the proposed approach and our continued engagement in exploring the processes needed to support current pre-registration pharmacists.

This statement is published on HEE’s Coronavirus (Covid-19) Information for trainees web page: https://www.hee.nhs.uk/coronavirus-information-trainees. Please access the direct link here or read the attached pdf.

We recognise that at this point you will have concerns and questions. Your main point of contact for support and queries will be your regional Pre-registration Pharmacist Training Lead.

Please be aware that the full details of the amended registration process, are still being explored and developed by the GPhC. As such, we will not have all the answers at this time.

We also encourage you to use the Health Education England Pre-registration Pharmacy Questions Portal to anonymously submit any questions and concerns that you have.  We will use this portal to understand the concerns of our trainees and aim to publish a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) resource.

Up-to-date guidance and information from HEE, NHS England and NHS Improvement and the government are also available on HEE’s coronavirus (COVID-19) web page. This is to help health professionals, HEE staff and the public respond to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Thank you, on behalf of HEE’s Regional Pharmacy Deans, for cascading this information via your channels and networks.
